Accessibility Statement
We want everyone to be able to use this site, including people with disabilities. Here is what we did, what is not yet perfect, and how to reach us.
Conformance level
The site was made accessible in line with the Israeli Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Service Accessibility Adjustments) Regulations, 5773-2013, and Israeli Standard IS 5568, which is based on WCAG 2.0 Level AA. We also aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA.
What we did
- Semantic structure: hierarchical headings, marked navigation and content regions, and the language and writing direction set on every page (Hebrew and Arabic right-to-left).
- Full keyboard navigation, with a visible focus indicator and a "Skip to content" link at the top of every page.
- Text alternatives for meaningful images and illustrations; decorative graphics are hidden from screen readers.
- A step-by-step contact form with labels linked to fields, required fields marked, and error messages in text that screen readers announce.
- Colour contrast checked against Level AA requirements.
- Respect for the operating system's "reduce motion" setting.
- A "Stop animations" button in the footer and in the accessibility toolbar. It stops all moving content and shows the coin story as a static layout.
- An accessibility toolbar: larger text, high contrast, underlined links and stopped animations.
- Responsive layout for phone, tablet and desktop, supporting zoom up to 200% without loss of content.
The accessibility toolbar is an addition. It does not replace accessibility itself, which was built into the site's code.
What is not yet fully accessible
Despite our efforts, some parts of the site may not yet be fully accessible. The ones we know of:
- The coin story and the agents diagram on the home page move. All of their text is also on the page as plain text, and both stop when the reduce-motion setting is on or when you press "Stop animations".
- The background image of an astronaut and the Earth is decorative and carries no information.
- We have not yet completed a full manual review with screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver). It is planned, and we will update this statement when it is done.
If you run into a problem, please tell us and we will fix it.
How we tested
The site was tested with automated tooling (axe-core) against WCAG 2.0 and 2.1 Level A and AA rules, and with manual keyboard checks, in Hebrew, English, Spanish and Arabic, at phone and desktop widths. It supports current versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge.
Physical accessibility
OrOn does not receive the public in person. All service, including meetings and support, is provided remotely.
